We are keen to promote the new report by Women for Refugee Women on immigration detention, A Decade of Harm, has officially launched today!

The research was designed and carried out by a team of 7 women who have personal experience of the UK’s asylum process.

The report shows:
· That the majority of women seeking asylum in detention are survivors of gender-based violence;
· That immigration detention causes profound and long-lasting damage to the mental health and wellbeing of women locked up in immigration detention;
· That there is an extremely concerning gap between Home Office policy and practice, including the use of male staff for ‘constant supervision’, despite the Home Office banning this practice in 2016. This means that women continued to be watched by male staff in intimate situations such as using the toilet, showering or getting dressed.

Do please help us by spreading the word about this important new report!
