We are mourning the tragic news of another death at Brook House, after a man died at the detention centre on Sunday. This is almost a year since an Albanian man died at the same detention centre. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
Surely this sad news demonstrates how important it is for this new Government to change how we treat people in the asylum and immigration system. After the recent inquiry into Brook House, we know that the Chair of that Inquiry called for a reset after an inadequate response by the then Government. It is clearly time for change – this inhumane system cannot continue!
