We held our first in person conference at Detention Forum in five years last month, and it was so energising to bring our network and partners together. We met at the Amnesty Human Rights Action Centre in London and we had around 50 of our members in attendance.

Our meeting was chaired by Enver Solomon, chief executive of the Refugee Council, and our keynote speaker was David Neal, the former independent chief inspector of borders and immigration. We also spent time discussing our plans post election on Parliamentary, external communications and building new allies.

We have a list full of ideas for future actions that we will now discuss and take forward as a network. Post election, we want to continue to make the case for a supportive environment: a compassionate and practical alternative to immigration detention. Watch this space!
