Alongside so many people in the country and across the world, we are appalled at the human tragedy which is rapidly unfolding in Afghanistan.
As a result of the great work that many of our members are doing in detention centres across the UK, we know that there are people currently in these centres who are currently awaiting removal back to Afghanistan.
We firmly believe that all of these people must be released immediately from detention as there is clearly no prospect of them being able to return to Afghanistan. Their continued detention cannot be justified by the Government. They must be released now.
And we stand in solidarity with all of the people of Afghanistan who either are, or are in fear of, being persecuted for expressing their views and opinions and for asserting their individual human rights.
